Day 4: Page to Dolores – Navajo Country

Time zones are messing with me. I hit road in Nevada two days ago what I originally thought was an hour later than I wanted, but it was two hours later after I crossed the Utah border.

Poof, I lost an hour.

Then, I got it back when I crossed the border into Arizona because they aren’t into this whole daylight savings thing. Now, I am squarely in Mountain Daylight Time and my hour is gone again.

So, on that note, this will be a relatively short post. I can say it’s because of that lost hour and leave it at that. But really, I blame Gina. That girl has been getting me in trouble since our high school days. At least that’s what I told my mom, meanwhile, she was telling her mom it was me. We we’re probably both right.

Ever have one of those friends who you may not see face-to-face in years, but when you do, you just pick up where you left off? The second I roll into town, she opens the fridge and hands me a beer. And many beers, a couple tacos, a snack plate later and a whole bunch of memories later, it is late and I am hitting the sack.

Today, was a ride through he heart of Navajo country. It’s that desert Southwest that you know from the movies with buttes and mesas and jutting red rock formations growing straight out of a seeming flat plain. It was a lovely ride, but as I was in a hurry to rendezvous with my old partner in crime, I only made a few necessary stops for gas and most my action photos are trapped on a GoPro in the room.

With that, I bow out for the evening and leave you with some readily accessible images. I hope to offer up more details in a later post. Meanwhile, this teaser.

Happy cooking and photographing.
